Katie Schafer, DO, is one of the proud owners of Bloom Pediatrics and is the Founder of Bloom U.

Native to the Detroit area, she considers it a privilege to live in the same community as her patients.  Dr. Schafer completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan and attended medical school at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Eager to reach the broader community and to bring her patients together, she brought to life Bloom U! After 15 years in outpatient practice, she hopes to enrich the Bloom family experience with broadened opportunities for enrichment, growth and support.  

Dr. Schafer lives in Birmingham with her husband, Scott, and her two sons, Oliver and Elliot. She takes great pleasure in raising her own family among the families she cares for at the office. In her free time, she enjoys being active within the American Academy of Pediatrics and is currently the Mayor Pro Tem for the City of Birmingham. She has been known to find any reason to blow up a balloon!

She is hopeful that the Bloom U experience will serve the greater needs of families as they navigate parenthood from birth to adulthood!
